Special training for the position of a judge of a court of general jurisdiction (hereinafter referred to as special training) has been carried out by the Educational Institution «Institute for Retraining and Qualification Upgrading of Judges, Prosecutors and Legal Professionals at the Belarusian State University» (hereinafter referred to as the Institute) since September 2018 in accordance with the curriculum agreed with the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus and approved by the Director of the Institute.
Judge candidates appointed as trainee judges undergo special training at the Institute.
Special training is aimed at deepening knowledge and acquiring practical professional skills by persons applying for the position of a judge.
The teaching methodology is based on a combination of theoretical studies with the implementation of practical tasks, on the basis of audience independent work on regulatory legal acts, educational literature and judicial practice materials.
The means of training are: lecture courses, practical tasks (including case solving), consultations, current knowledge control (testing and problem solving), the use of information technologies, legal information bases, library stock. It is possible to conduct classes remotely.
For each trainee enrolled in the Institute, an individual training plan is developed and approved, which includes the stages of training with the names of topics, the type of classes, the training period and the reporting form.
The term of study at the Institute is up to one year (it is specified in the individual plan for the special training of the audience).
Mastering the special training program ends with a mandatory final certification, which provides for the defense of the final certification work and passing the exam. For certification, a commission is created, which includes representatives of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus and the Institute.
