The research work carried out by the Institute is focused on the needs of the practical activities of the courts, prosecution authorities, other state bodies and organizations operating in the legal field. Scientific research is designed to promote scientific and methodological support for the correct application of the norms of the current legislation in law enforcement, judicial, prosecutorial practice.
Active participation in scientific activities is taken not only by the teachers of the Institute, but also by highly qualified practitioners: judges of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, employees of the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus.
The practical orientation of scientific research is reflected in the scientific topics on which the Institute has worked or is working:
1. Judicial practice in the context of the principles of legality and law;
2. The effectiveness of justice and prosecutorial supervision in civil, economic, criminal and administrative cases;
3. Optimization of prosecutorial and judicial practice in the fight against corruption offenses;
4. Legal and organizational aspects of improving the efficiency of judicial, investigative and prosecutorial practice in the context of the priorities of the socio-economic development of the Republic of Belarus.
5. The practice of administering justice and law enforcement as a basis for improving legal regulation in the context of the laws governing the functioning of the national legal system.
The results of the research work of the Institute are:
− Numerous proposals that are reflected in the Criminal, Criminal Procedure, Penitentiary Codes of the Republic of Belarus, the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses, and other legislative acts of the Republic of Belarus;
− conclusions on the requests of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus on the application of criminal, criminal procedural and criminal executive legislation; conclusions on draft resolutions of the Plenum of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus on the application of substantive and procedural law in civil, criminal and administrative cases;
− scientific works on the most problematic issues of law and law enforcement.
Employees of the Institute actively participate in the work of scientific advisory councils at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Belarus, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus, the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Belarus, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Belarus. The director of the Institute is a member of the Presidium of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus, the employees of the Institute are members of the Councils for the defense of dissertations at the Belarusian State University and the educational institution "Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus".
Scientific and practical conferences, seminars, including international ones, are organized under the auspices of the Institute.
